We have lots of news on AFC Liverpool, the premier league and changes to the world of football. Another group of seven disabled AFC Liverpool fans and their helpers were welcomed to the training ground at The Club. The Disability Liaison team often choose from the disabled season ticket owners seven lucky names. They are allowed to look around the ground, watch a whole training session with a champion footballer and the coaching crew taking the first team squad through their steps. After that they go back to the club house and have a good lunch, followed by shaking hands with several players who come for the photos and autograph signing.

Elsewhere, a fantastic initiative is being released in conjunction with the Wigan Learning Disability Partnership Board and Wigan Athletic Football Club and also alongside Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club. The initiative will allow supporters with a disability to watch matches with their fellow supporters.

We comment on many football games, such as those at the Olympics and Paralympics.

South Korea got their first-ever Olympic football medals after beating Japan in the third place match.

Goals from Arsenal’s Chuyoung Park and Jacheol Koo meant the Koreans, who saw off Stuart Pearce’s team of Great Britain players on penalties only the week before, run out the 2-0 winners against a not so good Japanese team.

Captain Koo was delighted to establish history in becoming the first-ever Korean football playing medallists.

"I am so happy. This is one of the best moments in my life for me and my team,” said the 23-year-old. “This match was very key for the Koreans.

"I am so proud to be the first footballer medallist in our country’s history."

After a bright start South Korea opened the scoring after 43 minutes in great style when Arsenal forward Park picked the ball up 28 yards in, found his way past two before slotting home with no effort.

And the result was certain just before the hour mark when midfielder Koo allowed a long ball with one touch before shooting past Shuichi Gonda in the Japanese goal with his second goal.

Sunderland’s Dongwon Ji nearly added another but was stopped by the woodwork though it mattered not as the Koreans finished the match and seized the Olympic bronze.

Myung Bo Hong’s team have the added bonus alongside their medal as it was made certain that they will now be exempt from military service on returning home after their Olympic success.
