AFC beat Bamber Bridge
AFC Liverpool travelled up the M6 to face Unibond North side Bamber bridge, in a friendly this evening. Bamber Bridge, who are 4th in their league, fielded a strong team whom AFC managed to overcome 2-1.
Bamber Bridge came out in the 1st half the stronger side, whilst AFC got used to a few new faces in the starting 11. They could not capitalise on their dominance as Andy Mccoy scored a great goal, to put the visiting side ahead. Liverpool failed to hold on to their lead, as ‘Brig’ equalised with a free header from a corner.
In the 2nd half, Bamber Bridge posed less of a threat as AFC Liverpool put themselves back infront, with another goal from winger Andy Mccoy. Deputy keeper Paul Moores kept the reds in the game late on, with a number of good saves.
This 2-1 victory against a side two leagues above us, puts us in good stead for the weekend which see’s us play host to Leek CSOB in a game which we will try to extend our lead at the top of the table.
