AFC Liverpool 0 v 1 Rochdale Town - Match Result

Although the reds were clear favourites for this match, it was the visitors who came away with all three points.

With home advantage, and already beating todays visitors 5-0 on the opening day of the season, the fans were fully expecting a win.

Unfortunately, there wasnt an early sign of the dominance they have displayed in previous games, with both teams cancelling each other out, and neither having the incentive to push enough players  forward to trouble defences.

It wasnt until the last minute in the first half that the first real chance came. Rochdale broke forward on the right hand side, with a rocket of a ball played across the AFC Liverpool six yard box, which was unfortunately turned in by Connor Murphy. In truth, it was the only shot of note that Rochdale had managed the entire first half.

The second half was an entirely different matter.

With the fog decending on Valerie Park, and the visiblily down to 30 yards at times, it was a different AFC Liverpool who turned up for the second half.

Chance after chance came for the home team, the closest being a goal-mouth clearance from the Rochdale Number five with an acrobatic overhead kick, and several chances from the improving Andy McCoy.

A battling second half performance from the reds, but not enough to get anything from the game.

Next game up is Atherton Collieries away on Monday 8th February. Kick off time is 7.45.
