The draw for the 2009 / 2010 FA Vase has given AFC Liverpool a 2nd Qualifying tie against North East Counties League side Dinnington Town. This is AFC’s first crack at the national competition. The game will take place at the clubs current home on Saturday 19th September. If successful the draw for the First Round Proper has been less kind with an away tie against the winners of the game between Penrith (Cumbria) and Squires Gate (Blackpool).

Club Chairman Paul McCombs on hearing the news said, “This is a great opportunity to take our brand of football to more distant places. All last year our supporters have been travelling all over the North West creating passionate atmospheres at grounds which normally attract gates of less than 50. Our travelling Army has provided colour, humour and passion in it’s backing for the team.”

With this draw the club is provided with the vehicle to spread the word of the growing revolution taking place on the Merseyside non league stage. When AFC played Bootle on Boxing Day it drew the largest crowd to watch a Vodkat League game last season.

The club will look forward to the tie against Dinnington dreaming of a cup run to compare with last years victorious run in the Vodkat Division One Trophy securing the trophy by beating Padiham 1-0 in the final played in April.

Paul McCombs also said “We recently decided to keep our gate prices at the same as last year for the coming 2009 / 2010 season. For £5 Adult, £3 OAP, £2 u/18 you can watch a successful team with its heart in the community of Liverpool.” The club which currently plays its games at Valerie Park in Prescot also offer season tickets at £70 for all home league matches.
