AFC Liverpool Board Reorganisation

Published on August 7, 2008

The board of AFC Liverpool was reorganised last night to prepare for the season ahead.

We are pleased with the restructuring, the new roles that have been created, the additions in personnel, and the changes in job role for those board members with portfolio.

All changes will take effect from Sunday 10th August.

Club founder Alun Parry will step down from Chair to Vice Chair. Alun will have specific responsibility for the media, liaising with the team manager, and heading up the new stadium project.

Stepping up to Chair is Gary Langley. Gary has a wealth of experience as a former board member at Stranraer FC. Now that the club has been created, his experience of helping to run a major football club will be invaluable to AFC Liverpool.

Gary will continue to head up the fundraising effort for the club too.

Ken Jones joins the board as Finance Director. Ken is an experienced finance professional at Littlewoods Shop Direct and brings an abundance of expertise to the job.

Chris Stirrup continues as Matchday Director, and Dave Smither will be the club’s Commercial Director.

Paul McCombs becomes the Fans Liaison Officer. This is a newly created role. Paul will be a link between the board and the fans in between club meetings. He will also organise social events at the club.

Sharon Dobson continues as Sales Director, and Paul Brown continues as Community Director.

A new role of Community Football Director was created and is likely to be headed up by Russ Higgins who, along with Sean Rogers, has been pivotal in the creation of the AFC Liverpool youth system.

These changes will stay in place until full board elections take place in the next few months.
