AFC Liverpool progress to Semi’s thumbnail

AFC Liverpool last night saw off a good fight from Chadderton, to progress into the Semi finals of the Vodkat Division 1 Trophy, were they will meet Norton.

AFC started the better team, and grabbed a deserved goal within 15 minutes, as on form Ian Sheridan carved open the opposition defence, and finished well from a tight angle.  Chaddertonsoon equalised, as Shaw found himself in another tight angle, and volleyed past keeper Baker on the 16 minute mark.

10 Minutes later, AFC Liverpool got themselves back infront, as striker Eaton beat a number of defenders before finishing past the visiting keeper.  Again, the lead didn’t last long as just 2 minutes later, the ever consistant Chandler passed back to keeper Baker, who tried to clear the ball, only to hit Chadderton striker Paul Socha and go in.

The 2nd half started with AFC kicking towards were most of the nights relatively small crown of 121, had gathered.  Seven minutes into the 2nd half, AFC won a corner and defender Mark Bloxham climbed well in the box to head into the back of the net and put the home side back in the lead.  The half seemed sure to carry on in the same manner as the 1st, with quickfire goals, but this was not the case as the rest of the nights chances were not finished.  Near the end, the goalscorer of what looked to be like the nights winning goal saved his team again by blocking a goal bound shot of the line, before substitute Dean Thurston shot just wide of the mark.

AFC Liverpool will face Norton in 2 legs of the Semi final.  Their next opponents are Rochdale Town, who will visit Valerie Park on saturday, a crucial game in AFC Liverpools title challenge.
