European Cup Winner Backs AFC Liverpool

European Cup winning Reds forward David Johnson has enthusiastically backed AFC Liverpool.

The three times League Championship winner, who scored 78 goals in his Anfield career, hailed AFC Liverpool as the new “boy’s pen”, and even stated he would be attending as a fan!

The Doc, as he is affectionately known, told LFC TV programme This Is Anfield:

“I think it is a great idea! To have an intermediary where Dads can take their lads, and it is to do with Liverpool Football Club and backed by the club is great.

“Too many times, football has moved on where Dads can no longer afford to take the kids, and in my day that was a massive part of learning the Liverpool Way and learning the songs.

“If Dads can go along with kids and can use it as the Boys Pen and learn the Liverpool Way - well thats good for me.”

AFC Liverpool is proud to have David Johnson’s support, and we are delighted that our goal of offering affordable football while passing on the LFC traditions, has been recognised by a genuine Red legend.

“I am looking to see where I can get a ticket,” he said.

Here’s how David! Tickets for our first ever game vs St Helens at the home of Ashton Town (Wed 16 July) are on sale now at News From Nowhere Bookstore, Bold Street, Liverpool. Adults £5, Children £3, Coach Tickets £5.
