Holker v AFC Liverpool - Match Preview

This Saturday sees AFC Liverpool begin the defence of their Vodkat North West Counties First Division Trophy as they travel to Holker Old Boys.
This will be the fourth time in a little over a year that the Reds have played at Rakesmoor Lane in Barrow in Furness and so far it has proved a happy hunting ground with three wins from the previous three visits.
Last season saw a perfect record as the Reds recorded a   4-0 victory in the league cup and a 2-0 win in the league fixture. This season’s league encounter saw AFC Liverpool come away with a 6-1 victory.
However, this shouldn’t be seen as prelude to an easy victory for the Reds, as Holker are a match for anyone on their day, as has been shown in recent weeks. There have been wins against Barnoldswick Town and Leek CSOB in the league and the Old Boys only lost to a last minute goal against New Mills and took Conference North side Southport to extra time, so Derek Goulding’s men will have to be on top of their game to keep hold of the First Division Trophy.
