Maine Road Preview

AFC Liverpool will looking to put Thursday’s FA Vase exit behind them as they take on Maine Road at Valerie Park this Saturday.

Still looking to secure their first win of the season, Reds’ fans will be hoping that the same determination shown by the players in the loss to AFC Darwen can be brought forward to the weekend’s game, and that that will bring about a change of luck for the team that has been desperately short of it so far this season.

Maine Road come to Valerie Park with three wins and one draw from their nine league games, with their 3-1 victory over Atherton LR last Monday putting an end to a run of three consecutive defeats.

Formed in 1955 by the Rusholme branch of the Manchester City supporters club, and originally called City Supporters Rusholme, the club began life in the Rusholme Sunday League before moving onto the Manchester Amateur Sunday League. Changing their name in 1972, they joined the Manchester Football League before progressing to the North West Counties League in 1987.
