Message from Manager Derek Goulding

Hello Everyone,

I would firstly like to thank everyone who travelled to Rochdale last week to support us in our opening game of the season, hopefully you enjoyed the lads performance and the result.  More importantly I hope it has re-ignited everyones enthusiasm and passion for the challenges ahead.

The players have been back in training for 7 weeks prior to saturdays game.  That coupled with a shorter close season than usual due to the world cup this summer has meant it has been a very busy ’summer break!’

After selecting the side last saturday I relised how much the side had changed over 12 months, with only 5 survivors from the team that started the season last year.  Whether or not we consider ourselves to be pleased or unhappy with last seasons performance it is always important year on year to improve.  Hopefully the new look squad can take us a few steps further this season.  Please get behind them and be as vocal and passionate about your club as you all were last season!

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate David Ojapah on his hatrick last week at Rochdale, made even more special as he became the first ever player to do so for AFC Liverpool.  David has worked really hard during pre-season and is grasping his opportunity with both hands at the moment, well done Dave!  Also this week captain Liam Coyne became AFC Liverpool’s first contracted player, Liam has signed a contract for this season with the club also having another 12 month option after this season.  This means that Liam has made a commitment to the club which could well see him here until the end of the 2011 season.  A fantastic example of commitment at this level of football from a player who really does lead from the front and by example, ‘All the best Coyney’

Finally, tell as many people you can about us and bring as many as you can to the games with you, your support gives the players a massive lift.

See you all Satd’y

Degs
