Paul Willis: Fifty Not Out

AFC Liverpool goalkeeper Paul Willis became the latest player to make his fiftieth appearance for the club when he played in the defeat to Holker Old Boys.

Belfast born Willis’ first time in goal for the Reds was in only their second ever game, against Nelson, and he showed his worth to the team as they won the penalty shoot out to claim the Joe Fagan Commemorative Trophy.

The former Liverpool FC reserve keeper and Northern Ireland U-21 international was also between the sticks for the club’s first competitive match in the Vodkat First Division, when they beat Darwen 5-0.

Since then he has kept a further sixteen clean sheets, most memorably in last season’s Vodkat First Division Trophy final when the Reds defeated Padiham 1-0.
