Stone Dominoes Preview

The Reds head down to Staffordshire tomorrow afternoon looking to build upon Wednesday night’s win over Runcorn Linnets.

It’s a game that both teams will be hoping to win with the hosts just three places and five points ahead of the Reds, although they have played one games less. Like AFC Liverpool, Stone Dominoes struggled at the beginning of the campaign, winning just one and drawing two of their opening fourteen games but in the last month their form has improved allowing them to pull away from the foot of the table. Four wins, against Padiham, Alsager Town, AFC Blackpool and Atherton LR plus a draw against Runcorn Town has seen them more than triple their points tally in just the last six games.

This will be the Reds’ third visit to Springbank Park and hopefully this weekend’s result will mirror the two previous as on both occasions AFC Liverpool came away with all three points. The first meeting between the two sides saw the Reds win 4-0 back in November 2008, with goals coming from Ndiwa Kangana, Ryan Wignall, James Croxton and Martin Smeaton. The following season an Andy McCoy goal was the difference between the two sides on a cold January afternoon.
