Reserves Report: AFC Fylde 0 AFC Liverpool 1

AFC Liverpool reserves travelled to AFC Fylde in Blackpool at the weekend with recent signing King captaining the Reds in defence.

AFC Liverpool pushed in the first 20 minutes for a goal yet the best chance came from great build up play by AFC Liverpool to see Michael Johnson’s backheel saved by the Flyde Goalkeeper.

Brilliant play by David Ojapah opened a chance for Charlie Opare whose delicate chip beat the keeper but went narrowly over the bar.

AFC Liverpool were caught in defense and Fylde’s striker went round Dave Cater in goal but missed thanks to late recovering pressure from the Reds defence.

Opare again came close to a goal but his effort was just tipped away.

The Reds back four played particularly well, with the Fylde forward line well marshalled by King and Philip Ojapah.

Half Time: AFC Fylde 0 AFC Liverpool 0

AFC Liverpool started the second half strongly with quick chances coming from the wide men, but were caught on the counter and only an amazing Carragher-like tackle from young Philip Ojapah rescued the situation.

The Reds then took control of the game with shots from Matt Cushion and David Ojapah.

Fylde tried to come back into the game but found themselves closed down by full backs Jones and Connolly. King’s presence in the air kept the home side’s strikers at bay, while Cater made an amazing save to keep the scores level.

Yet the Reds were rewarded with a power shot along the ground from David Ojapah which found the back of the net for a confidence boosting vitory.
