Vodkat League Statement on AFC Liverpool Application

Dated: Sat Apr 12th 2008

The following is taken from the official league news of the Vodkat League at

A quick update on two of the clubs that we reported previously were looking to join our league next season.

On Tuesday 8th April representatives of AFC Liverpool met with members of the League Management Committee to discuss their application. The club stated that plans were at an advanced stage for signing a ground sharing agreement, and that they are progressing well.

They also indicated they expect to have a first team, a reserve team and an Under 16 team initially. With a view to next season, a team of matchday volunteers will be shadowing Runcorn Linnets representatives at their home game against Silsden on April 19th.

Although the club still has a number of issues to address, the League Management Committee are of the view that, if these issues are resolved within a reasonable timescale, they expect to be able to recommend that AFC Liverpool should be admitted to the Vodkat League at the League AGM in June.

Middlewich Athletic have also applied to join the league next season, but in the past week the club has made the League Management Committee aware of an issue that has arisen regarding the funding for floodlights. This could have an impact on their ability to meet the ground grading criteria required. We will give more detail on this in future weeks.
